PAL Driver License for Waters Empower (Needs Firmware 2.4.0 or above)                                                                   The instrument control add-on module PAL DrvEmp will be installed as an addition to the base software and should be installed on the Empower acquisition server and all Empower clients that will use the instrument. There's no need to install the module on the Empower database server. PAL DrvEmp includes all basic PAL cycles as they are delivered with new PAL instrument (e.g. LC-Inj, GC-Inj, GC-InjS, HS-Inj, SPME-Inj etc.) as well as the creation of customized PAL cycles (corresponds to the known "Macro Editor" tab within the original CTC Analytics Cycle Composer).                           Current Limitations
One CTC PAL per acquisition server
At this time only 1 CTC PAL per acquisition server can be controlled.
Limited sample volume with Agilent GC's
Due to an Empower restriction, the sample volume for GC Liquid Injections is limited to 50µl if an Agilent 5890/6890 GC is configured. A workaround is to specify the injection volume in the method.
Overlapped Headspace Injections
As for now, time optimization for overlapped injections is limited to 2 samples.                                                        Empower Client/Server
Due to an Empower restriction, it is only possible to edit methods, edit cycles and control the PAL on a client that is physically connected to the CTC PAL at this moment.
It is expected that these limitations are fixed in the new Empower 2 release planned for July 2005.
